Tuesday, November 8, was a day to remember. It is the first day that I asked J to take me to the Woodland's Children Museum in Woodlands, Texas. J had gone to bed at 1am so I let him sleep in until 10. At 10:30 I expressed how I was feeling quite better and was worried that we had only so many days left before the children were heading back home to Bogota...there was only so much vacation time left and having done nothing besides eat and sleep, I thought it was time we do something. J had a test he had to take so all I needed was for him to drive me to the museum.
I had forgotten my driver's license. I believe it is still sitting on my closet shelf back home where I had carefully placed it so I wouldn't forget to pack it. Ha ha.
J drove me to the children's museum along with our two youngest. Google Maps stated it would take us 20 minutes. An hour later we arrived.
The museum was a delight! There was a wooden firetruck that G and E lived in for about 15 minutes while dressing up in firefighter clothes in children sizes! There was a house, a digging area, a tunnel...oh, the list goes on and on. J was worried that I didn't understand that I couldn't be picked up for several hours. I reassured him that it was probably not long enough. Let's recap our week in Houston:
Tuesday: Arrive. Eat dinner.
Wednesday: I had to take two naps because I was so tired. G swims in the pool. Eat.
Thursday: 1 nap. Eat. J suggests G gets a bike!
Friday: J buys G gets a bike! I walk the neighborhood loop once while G bikes. Nap. Eat. Shop.
Saturday: Nanni takes G, E, and myself to a beautiful park. G bikes, E feeds the ducks, I walk a bit. Nap.
Sunday: Walk around neighborhood loop. Nap. Eat. G goes with Nanni to same beautiful park.
Monday: Walk around neighborhood loop. Nap. Eat. Shop. Nanni takes G to the movies.
Yeah, exciting, right? Truthfully, we did say we were coming to visit family so it's not like we didn't fulfill that goal...and I was doing quite poorly in Bogota with all those stupid headaches, nausea, and exhaustion so anything that I am doing is better than before we came here. But still, I want to do a few things with the kids, family included, and taking naps isn't one of them!
So I was very happy that I was able to take G and E to this really cool hands-on kids museum and hang out with them for the day. To see E's face filled with excitement as she grabs her big brother's hand and runs for the fire truck was rewarding enough. When they are having fun being children, I am the happiest! J missed his test and had to reschedule...then didn't come back so he missed out on hanging out with E and G while they were at the museum, but tomorrow he'll have the opportunity to feel the joy of children while we're at the Houston zoo.
Here's the link to the zoo in case any of my readers want to check out this place while visiting Houston. It's worth it when you want a down day and just relax while your kids play. Playing with them is optional!
